Kali’s guitar lessons focus on discovering the basics of guitar and developing a passion for it – regardless of ability or age! Working primarily with acoustic guitar, lessons are designed for those wishing to accompany themselves, play at parties, learn basic chords and develop their techniques.

Adult and beginners lessons are perfect for those wishing to play basic songs at parties or around a campfire, join a band, or accompany themselves if they are singers.

Song writing can be an intensely personal process, so lessons usually begin with exercises designed to unlock and unblock our often hidden songwriting skills. As the particular strengths of each student emerges through this process, so do the areas that require attention. 

 

There is a strong focus on personal and musical self expression and students can expect to write songs in a genre that appeals to them. 

Students are able to choose from learning areas that relate to their style of writing such as:

• Lyrics – storytelling, narrative, poetry

• Chords – chords in popular music, alternative chord usage, creating texture and surprise

• Song structure – structures in modern music, alternative techniques

• Melody

Songwriters are often singers too and sometimes play an instrument, therefore students can choose to combine song writing lessons with other tuition (see below for other lessons) such as – vocals and songwriting or guitar, piano, music theory and others.

 

Kali’s vocal lessons focus on developing your inner voice and finding the confidence to express your natural gift. Whether you want to sing for the joy of it, front a band, prepare for a studio session or simply sing for your loved ones, we can tailor lessons to suit your needs.

Vocal lessons are suitable for both children and adults of any level or style. 

 

Harmony Lessons

Harmony lessons are for singers who want to sing with others – and wish to do so in tune! It’s ideal for duos, trios and bands who want to create texture and body to their vocal presence. The basic theory behind singing harmonies is delivered in a practical way, and artists/bands are encouraged to work on songs already in their repertoire.
